One of the main attractions of Guardamar del Segura is a large park named after the King of Spain Alfonso XIII. It stretched along the sea and was built at the end of the 19th century in order to stop the advance of sand dunes on the city. The size is amazing – as much as 800 hectares. An ecologically clean natural zone is located within the city and connects the center with the marina. The protected area is filled with coniferous trees, palm trees, eucalyptus trees and cypresses. There are many wild paths in the park that will lead you to the most remote corners, but there are also equipped paths along which you can safely walk with children and ride a bicycle. Spicy coniferous aroma is an excellent therapy for people who regularly breathe the air of megacities.
From the marina side, the park goes to the mouth of the Segura River, where you can enjoy incredible sea views. And also – to observe the nesting of rare birds, there for these purposes a special observation post has been equipped. If you want to spend the day in seclusion and peace, then in Alfonso XIII park for this pastime is just the perfect place!
